CHARLES A. SCOTT, DC, DIHOM HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy was developed over 200 years ago as a distinct medical system by a German medial doctor, Samuel Hahnemman, M.D. This doctor in 1790 based this new form of medicine on the concept of “like cures like”. In other words, a substance that causes symptoms in a healthy person can also cure those same symptoms in a sick person.
The name homeopathy is derived from “homeo” or similar and “pathy” meaning disease. Homeopathic remedies are derived from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms and are prepared in various dilutions. I will give one example from each for illustration purposes. Tobacco belongs to the plant kingdom and is given for: coldness of the limbs, trembling, angina pectoris,
migraine headace, vertigo and Meniere’s syndrome. Zinc metallicum belongs to the mineral kingdom and is prescribed for: occipital and frontal headaches, restlessness of the legs, sensitivity to noise, vertigo, and peripheral neuralgia. Tarantula belongs to the animal kingdom and is given for: restlessness, trembling or jerking of the extremities, hyperesthesia, Parkinson’s, and restlessness of the legs.
Homeopathy was brought into the 20th century with the development of a new and scientific approach to the principles of homeopathy. A German physician, Hans Reckeweg, M.D. applied the modern sciences of biology,
pathology, immunology, endocrinology, and toxicology with the basics of homeopathy. Dr. Reckeweg called this new field of homeopathic medicine, Homotoxicology. “Homo” refers to homo sapiens or humans and toxicology refers to toxins and their effects on the human body systems.
The body and its systems were designed by our Creator to maintain a state of balance. We are constantly interacting with our environment and it has become increasingly toxic or polluted. Pollution of our water, food, and air is evident in industrialized societies worldwide. These toxins affect the human organism and our bodies must eliminate these toxins in order to maintain good health. Symptoms so often seen with a particular disease are nothing more than an expression of the body’s defense systems to eliminate these toxins, according to Dr. Reckeweg. The body is always attempting to heal itself by ridding itself of these toxins.
Many complex formulas were developed by Dr. Reckeweg to help facilitate the elimination of these harmful toxins. Blockage of these toxins or the body’s inability to eliminate them often drives them deeper into the body, resulting in many degenerative diseases. It is essential to safely remove these toxins to achieve health.
All homeopathic remedies utilized in this clinic are regulated by the FDA and are legal in the USA. These remedies are listed in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia USA and are manufactured under strict regulations by licensed homeopathic pharmacies. Homeopathy was included in the federal law in 1938 when the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act was passed.
Homeopathic remedies are available in most health food stores and work well for common complaints such as headaches or symptoms associated with hay fever for example. A prescription is not needed due to its safety and lack of serious side effects commonly seen with drugs.
For more serious conditions it is best to seek the advice of a health care provider who has extensive training in homeopathy. A growing number of chiropractors and medical doctors are now utilizing homeopathy in their daily practices. The more potent remedies are sold by health care providers and are not available in health food stores.
Dr. Scott has extensive training in Classical and Complex Homeopathy. He has studied in Germany with homeopathic medical doctors that specialize in Biological Medicine. Recently Dr. Scott completed post graduate studies in Homeopathy and obtained an advanced degree in Homeopathic Pharmacology from the British Institute of Homeopathy.
